CHAMPIONS AGAIN IN 2010!
El Camino's Academic Decathlon team has now set the new record of SIX national championships with their 49,951.7 points victory over 34 teams at the national finals in Omaha, Nebraska. 9th Annual Melody of Words
The annual evening of authors and artists will be held at ECR on April 28, 2010 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Everyone from the ECR family of schools of schools (ECR, Hale, Pomelo, Lockhurst, Woodlake, Welby Way, Haynes, Calabash) as well as anyone else is invited! There will be over 50 artists and authors presenting their work, the students are performing and there are several art shows of our students work. Food will be available for purchase. It is a great night for everyone.
Friends of ECR Wine and Beer tasting a fantastic success!
The Wine and Beer tasting last Saturday night was a great event. Thank you to all the Friends of ECR who worked to make the event a success. Through the generous donation of the event participants and sponsors approximately $15,000 in badly needed funds was raised for the students of ECR.
To everyone who remembers Sharon Rose
Please come to Woodlake Elementary School on Thursday May 6, 2010 from 6:30 - 8:00pm for an evening of special activities in appreciation of Mrs. Rose and all that she did for the children and families.
Students and community members will share readings and musical offerings on our outdoor stage and visual art will be on display in the auditorium.
This event also marks the official opening of the Sharon Rose Reading Corner in the school library, where many of Mrs. Rose's books have found a new home through a generous donation from her family.
All are welcome! We hope to see you there.

ECR Student wins State PTSA Reflections Competition
Michael Reed won the California State PTSA Reflections competition. He was presented with an Award of Merit and received recognition from the California State Legislature in a recent ceremony.

Celebrity Basketball Game this Friday
Come and enjoy the celebrity basketball game that will be held here at ECR on Friday, April 23, 2010 hosted by the boy's basketball team. The celebrity team will take on the ECR staff in a game that will benefit the ECR basketball program. The game will start at 7:00pm. Tickets: General Admission - $10, Students and all children - $5. Celebrity team includes: Byron Russell, DJ Quick, Kel Mitchell, Al. B Sure, Kareem Grimes, and many more... ECR's team includes: Mr. Hussey, Mr. Bennett, Coach Lienhard, Mr. Knadle, Mr. Dupree, Coach Wyatt, Coach Juwan, and Rai Colston (Alumni). Tickets will be sold at the door or see any member of the boy's basketball team for presale tickets.

Aca-Deca - California State Champions!
Girls Soccer - LA City Division I Champions
Girls Basketball - LA City Division II Champions
Boys Basketball - LA City Division III Runner-up
ECR Wrestling finishes high at LA City Finals!
Our team placed 2nd to San Fernando. San Fernando scored 291 , ECR 281.5, Chatsworth 143.5, Granada Hills 140, and Sylmar 137 to round out the top 5 teams. Our team placed all 14 wrestlers in the top 6 in their weight classes with 9 of our boys in the championship final match!! Champions were Ali Naser and Nasim Naser, 2nds were won by Bruce Holmes, Chris Rolon, Al Shuman, Jack Medina, Spencer Howell, Aaron Tracht, and Ahmad Ayamuddin, 3rds went to Enea Celmeta and Isac Lazarovits, 4th to Josh Adad, 5th to Chase Gould and a 6th to Arash Ahmadi.
Congratulations to Ali Naser for winning the California USA Wrestling Frosh/Soph Tournament this weekend in Fresno!! With over 2000 wrestlers and 21 mats, there were 131 in his weight class and two 64-man brackets!! Ali has also secured a spot on Team California for the National Team Cadet Duals this June in Minnesota! He will also be participating in our nations age group tournament in Fargo, No. Dakota in July!! We need to raise about $1000 for Ali's expenses for the Minnesota trip and an additional $1000 for his participation in Fargo. Anyone wishing to donate may contact Mr. Fischer.
FREE Instrumental Music Concert this Thursday at 7:00
The ECR Jazz Bands, Concert Band, and String Orchestra will be playing the music for their upcoming festivals this Thursday night in Anderson Hall.
ECR Sings with Dick Van Dyke
Our Choir and Camerata will be performing at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza with Dick Van Dyke and six other choirs at 6pm on May 9. Tickets are on sale at the box office for $36, $26, and $16.

Saturday April 24 is a really big day for El Camino Real!
The Academic Decathlon team will be in Omaha NE competing for the national championship!
The Robotics team will be in Dallas TX competing for the world championship!

"Sip the Night Away" wine & beer tasting event.
You will have the opportunity to taste 14 different varieties of top rated wine and 8 different varieties of beer. Add in delicious food, awesome shopping opportunities in the silent & live auctions and you have a recipe for the perfect evening, all the while helping the kids. Women and Men to play in City Championships
The ECR Women's basketball team will be playing for the Division II championship Friday March 5, 2010 at 6:00pm.
The ECR Men's basketball team will be playing for the Division III championship this Saturday March 6, 2010 at 1:00pm.
Both games will be played at the LAUSD Roybal Learning Center

Participate in ECR Career Expo 2010
El Camino will be holding the annual Career Expo on March 11, 2010. We are excited to be bringing back this wonderful event. Our past Expos were a success for both students and employers.
We are looking for our parents/guardians and community members who would like to enlighten our juniors and seniors about possible careers. At the Expo, you will have the opportunity to make informal presentations to small groups of students.
The Expo welcomes whatever your company can offer to the students. This is a wonderful way to give to your community and your student's school. If your company is interested in participating, but doesn't isn't sure how or doesn't currently offer internship, please contact us and we can help.
